With solid roots traced back to Gouraud Street,
then part of the vibrant Souk el Najjarine, Ets.
Georges Matta was founded in the 1950's as part
of the thriving Beirut Central District. An expansion
with the Jamhour and then the Jal el Dib showrooms,
in the following decade, paid tribute to an expertise
garnered in metal furniture that primarily included
beds, chairs, tables and then following on, outdoor
metal worked furniture.
The company became incorporated as the Societe
Georges Matta pour L'Industrie et le Commerce SAL
in 1981. The new era that dawned witnessed the
Dekwaneh location develop, in 2000, from a factory
to a partial showroom and then into the prime
showroom. The Ajaltoun and the Tripoli showrooms
were launched in 1999 and 2000 respectively.
Keeping abreast of the latest trends, decorative
and gift items were introduced as a new line of
products in 2001.
In 2005 another major showroom was launched, Khaldeh.
